Friends Of The High Lakes

I'm proud to serve on the board of Friends of the High Lakes (FOTHL)—a grassroots 501(c)(3) nonprofit made up of outdoor enthusiasts, local businesses, recreation clubs, and user groups who are passionate about preserving access to the High Lakes area of the Lassen National Forest.

FOTHL represents a growing community of responsible recreationalists who believe that public lands should remain open and accessible to the people—for everything from fishing, hiking, and camping to off-road exploring, geocaching, rock hounding, hunting, and more.

We believe in conservation through stewardship—not preservation through restriction. That means protecting these beautiful lands while continuing to use and enjoy them. Our members take pride in being both environmentalists and active land users who understand that you can care for nature and still experience it hands-on, including with motorized vehicles.

Friends of the High Lakes exists to:

  • Keep the High Lakes open to the public

  • Promote responsible, respectful land use

  • Support conservation through volunteerism and education

  • Improve and maintain recreational access for future generations

This is more than a cause—it’s a movement. We invite others who love the outdoors to get involved and help us protect access to this incredible region through action, awareness, and boots-on-the-ground efforts.

FOTHL is an approved 501(c)(3) Public Benefit Organization
